Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, many funds have been launched to help Ukrainians in need, from GoFundMe campaigns to Airbnb.

But one Chicago artist chose the odd man out of the situation and began designing a Lego replica of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Joe Trupia is the owner of Citizen Brick, a toy company. In Bricken Brick, Trupia takes a "LEGO® minifigure design and prints her (very inappropriate)

For this reason, he decided to create two types of models that he thought represented the "courage of the country in the face of tyranny": the president of Ukraine - and, perhaps more controversially, a small Molotov cocktail toy.

Zelensky's portrait shows the president in his current form - green shirt and military jacket, black shoes, short hair and stubble, and an expression that combines fatigue, anger and contempt for his plastic face.

"He's a guy who could have fled the country with a suitcase full of money and stayed with his people ... I was so impressed with his tenacity and the hope he brings to people," Trupia told the Post.

The Molotov cocktail was chosen as a symbol of extreme rebellion by ordinary people with few weapons to get rid of a very powerful enemy. The small item consists of a green bottle with the flag of Ukraine and a plastic orange "flame".

"The thrill of selling small toys to buy medical supplies for refugees was not lost on me," Trupia said.

Since Citizen Brick's first sale on March 5, with $100 Zelensky and $10 Molotov cocktails, the company has raised $145,388, selling each piece within hours.

On Thursday, Citizen Brick announced that it had sold every Zelensky statue and petrol bomb and the proceeds went to Direct Relief, the charity that is participating in the Ukraine appeal.

The Post reports that Citizen Brick is not affiliated with Lego, but the Danish toy giant appears to be tolerant of its small business, and has itself given millions of dollars in aid to Ukraine, as well as a freeze on sales to Russia.

Meanwhile, Lost Worlds, a North Carolina-based brewery, has begun selling 32-ounce bottles of beer with the blue and yellow colors of the Ukrainian flag but with a photo of Russian President Vladimir Putin. CHICAGO — A U.S.-based company has put its own twist on LEGO toys by using its expertise to create custom LEGOs of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Molotov cocktails and raising nearly $150,000 for war-affected Ukrainians.

Citizen Brick, a Chicago-based independent retailer, launched the campaign earlier this month against Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The company released a $10 Molotov cocktail and a $100 minifigure of Zelensky as a "donation" — all to benefit Direct Relief, a nonprofit organization that helps bring medical supplies to people in Ukraine.

Resident Brick says they use original LEGO products, then melt them and inject their own.

The sale began on March 5 and quickly collected $16,540 in the first 24 hours, the company said.

Citizen Brick said, "As you may have noticed, the minis sold out almost immediately. We made as many as we could in a quiet 24 hours, and the CB staff came in on their day off to release them." March. "We know there are people who have tried to get it but can't. We hope they will continue to consider direct funding from relevant donors."

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke to the US Congress from Kiev, where his country continues to fight Russian forces in what officials say is an unprovoked attack by President Vladimir Putin. Zelenskyy asked members of Congress to help establish a no-fly zone and maintain sanctions until the Russian military stops the attack. After playing a video showing the destruction in Ukraine, Zelensky spoke in English to reiterate the importance of his proposal.

This week, resident Brick offered another chance to buy a portrait of the Ukrainian president "because of the high interest." The company said it hopes to raise $100,000.

Joe Trupia, owner of Citizen Brick, told FOX Television Station this Thursday morning that the company has once again sold in the planned auction and raised $145,387 - all to benefit direct relief.

Trupia said, "As of this morning, we're completely sold out of that stuff. We're not likely to produce more because we've run out of stock."

Direct Relief said it has sent more than 30 tons of medical supplies to Ukraine since the war began, now in its fourth week.

On Thursday, the Russian army continued to bomb large cities and fire from a distance, causing damage to civilians. The death toll is still unknown, although Ukraine has said thousands of people have died. The actor raised $145,000 in Ukraine with Zelenskyy working in Lego. It didn't take long for Citizen Brick to outsell the traditional LEGO model of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

"We wanted to do a little fundraising effort," says owner Joe Trupia. "But this one seemed to hit some people."

Like many others, Trupia wanted to help when she saw what was happening in Ukraine. His shop decided to make and sell small toys to attract attention and money to Ukraine.

They sold out within hours, raising more than $145,000 to benefit the nonprofit group, Direct Relief.

Trupia says the request was unusual. The Chicago-area toy store typically serves a small — but loyal — community of toy collectors, who have become famous for creating "remote-model versions of LEGO minifigures" for fans of the product over the past 12 years.

"Then we did something out of that context and it was announced," Trupija said.

Citizen Brick has fielded calls and emails from all over the world asking for toys from Ukraine. But he kept thinking about his loyal customers.

"I have a lot of clients from this part of the world, and three weeks ago they were making TikTok videos and collecting toys. And the next thing you know, they're hiding in the subway. And that was really amazing," he said.

"If you asked me last month who the president of Ukraine is, I probably wouldn't have told you," Trupia said. "And that's a rare thing in bravery, I think. I was very impressed that he stuck by his people and led the way they needed at this time."

"In retrospect, making a toy Molotov cocktail is a ridiculous idea," says Trupia. "And I'm happy with the way to turn it into medical supplies for refugees. It seemed like a good idea. But... Not really
